ACHP Urges Good-Faith Period for CMS-0057 Implementation

ACHP is urging the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services and the Office of the National Coordinator for Health Information Technology to pair the January 1, 2027 compliance date for the CMS Interoperability and Prior Authorization Final Rule (CMS-0057) with a 12-month good-faith validation period. Regional, nonprofit health plans are investing to meet the rule, but compliant processes in 2027 will not equal operational readiness. ACHP recommends enforcement discretion for plans actively testing APIs and remediating defects.
