Washington, D.C. (August 8, 2024) – The Alliance of Community Health Plans (ACHP), a network of nonprofit, provider-aligned, community-based health plans, today announces that Mass General Brigham Health Plan of Boston, Massachusetts, and Sentara Health Plans, headquartered in Hampton Roads, Virginia, have joined its membership. With widespread consolidation across the health care industry, these new members permit ACHP to represent the unique strengths and needs of the provider-aligned model of coverage and care more strongly.
Founded almost 40 years ago, Mass General Brigham Health Plan provides coverage for commercial, Medicare Advantage and Medicaid members across Massachusetts. It is part of Mass General Brigham, an integrated academic health care system which is committed to patient care, teaching, community service and is one of the nation’s leading biomedical research organizations.
Sentara Health Plans has provided health coverage to nearly one million commercial, Medicaid and Medicare members across Virginia since 1984. Its care delivery system, Sentara Health, is one of the largest health systems in the region and has a 130-year history of building healthier communities.
