Washington, D.C. – Today the Alliance of Community Health Plans (ACHP) issues the following statement regarding the announcement of President-elect Biden’s nominations and appointments for his health team and California Attorney General Xavier Becerra for Secretary of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS).
“The health team nominations and appointments announced by President-elect Biden show the incoming Administration’s dedication to accessible, quality health care and commitment to defeating COVID-19.
“Attorney General Xavier Becerra has been a passionate defender of the Affordable Care Act and a champion for expanding access to health coverage. ACHP and our member companies look forward to working with him and the Biden-Harris Administration to improve affordability, availability and outcomes in the U.S. health care system.
“There is much work to be done to contain the raging COVID-19 pandemic. The health team nominated today brings diverse expertise to tackling the public health crisis and saving lives. ACHP is eager to work with these experienced leaders to improve testing and contact tracing, address health disparities and ensure the safe and efficient delivery of treatments and vaccines at no cost to the American people.
