ACHP Statement on Energy & Commerce Committee Medicaid Markup

“The Alliance of Community Health Plans (ACHP) has long been committed to supporting high-value, low-cost comprehensive coverage and care. The proposed legislation from the House Energy & Commerce Committee puts Medicaid coverage at risk for millions of Americans – including working families who rely on the program to access health care and life-saving services. While we are pleased pharmacy benefit manager reforms are included to address waste in the drug supply chain, the overall draft legislation puts average Americans at risk. ACHP remains concerned that millions of Americans will lose coverage – especially with the threat of congressional inaction to extend enhanced individual market tax credits – increasing the severity and prevalence of chronic disease and racking up costs for every consumer.”
