Washington, D.C. (May 22, 2025) – The Alliance of Community Health Plans (ACHP) welcomes the release of the Make America Healthy Again (MAHA) Commission’s report and its urgent focus on reversing the rising tide of chronic disease among America’s children. We commend the Commission for spotlighting the systemic drivers of childhood diseases like asthma, diabetes and autoimmune conditions that threaten the health and future of the next generation.
ACHP’s member plans support Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr.’s priorities for a more transparent, efficient and high-quality health sector, and we stand ready to partner with the MAHA Commission to advance evidence-based and community-driven solutions.
In fact, our plans are already addressing chronic illness in their communities through our Chronic Disease Pledge—a long-term commitment announced in 2020 to measurably reduce the incidence of diabetes, heart disease and childhood obesity. This is not a slogan. It is a nationwide initiative rooted in local action, leveraging the power of aligned payer-provider care models to deliver meaningful, measurable impact.
We look forward to deepening our collaboration with the MAHA Commission and Secretary Kennedy to implement commonsense strategies that restore the health of America’s children and our nation.
