Washington, D.C. – Today the Alliance of Community Health Plans (ACHP) issues the following statement regarding the confirmation of Xavier Becerra as Secretary of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) and pending confirmations of other members of the Biden-Harris Administration health team:
“ACHP commends the Senate for confirming Xavier Becerra as Secretary of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. Secretary Becerra has been a tireless advocate for the Affordable Care Act and ensuring access to high-quality coverage and care for all Americans. His leadership will help secure a stable and effective individual market, address inequities in our health care system and turn the tide of the COVID-19 pandemic.
“In addition, the diverse expertise of Deputy Secretary nominee Andrea Palm, CMS Administrator nominee Chiquita Brooks-LaSure and CMMI Director Liz Fowler will help advance critical improvements in our health care system, improve access to affordable coverage and further advance value-based care delivery.
“ACHP and our nonprofit members stand ready to collaborate with the Biden-Harris Administration to continue addressing the pandemic, access to affordable coverage, social determinants of health and other pressing issues impacting the communities we serve.”
