POSITION SUMMARY

The Senior Manager/Manager of Market Competitiveness serves to distinguish ACHP’s members in a saturated health care market through strategic analysis and programmatic support. The ideal candidate is a self-starter who collaborates actively with other ACHP departments, supporting ACHP through a combination of research and analysis, programming for formal learning events and relationship-building with executives and staff at member organizations. The position requires excellence in a fast-paced environment and a commitment to advancing high-quality, affordable coverage and care.

Leveraging both qualitative and quantitative analyses, the senior manager/manager will assist the team in driving data-driven insights to support ACHP’s advocacy initiatives and clinical priorities. From evaluating quality measures to assessing legislative proposals, the work is of critical value in differentiating ACHP’s members in the industry.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Data-driven Insights (50%) 

  • Provides analysis, interpretation, and communication of ACHP’s online suite of clinical, quality benchmarking and marketing assessment Tableau-based analytic tools.
  • Analyzes publicly available and member-reported datasets (e.g., CMS enrollment, CMS Star ratings CAHPS, HOS, HEDIS) to illuminate quality, competitive managed care market landscape and business impacts.
  • Supports development of infographics, issue briefs, and presentations using rigorous methodological approaches to further ACHP’s lobbying and research agenda.
  • Works to continuously enhance our analytic offerings by identifying and implementing new data sources and analytic approaches.

Member Engagement (50%) 

  • Supports ACHP’s shared learning agenda through in-person conferences and virtual convenings.
  • Regularly convenes several working groups consisting of subject matter experts from ACHP’s member organizations, such as financial leaders and market executives.
  • Builds relationships with executives at member organizations and helps to identify and develop solutions for critical issues affecting their success.

PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE, EDUCATION, AND OTHER QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience supporting grant-funded initiatives, ideally in the health sector 
  • Proven ability to collaborate within multidisciplinary teams and report to senior management. 
  • Demonstrated proficiency in professional writing for academia or research 

SUBJECT MATTER EXPERTISE

  • 4+ years of relevant work experience in health services research, health plan analytics, health policy or quantitative analysis.
  • Familiarity with a variety of health care data sources, including data related to Medicaid, HEDIS, CAHPS and CMS Medicare Advantage Star Ratings

TECHNICAL QUALIFICATIONS

  • Quantitative skills include the ability to create data visualizations, be facile with descriptive statistics, understand causative versus associative relationships and incorporate evaluations of various data collection methodologies into analytic assessments.
  • Candidates will be required to demonstrate proficiency in statistical analysis, database management and data visualization software, including Tableau, Amazon Web Services (AWS), Excel, SAS, and Python.

EDUCATION OR CERTIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in public health, epidemiology, statistics, economics, data science, analytics or computer science required. Graduate degree a plus.
  • PMP not required but preferred.

OTHER SKILLS

  • Proven project management and organizational skills.
  • Ability to design and oversee programming projects with attention to detail.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, with a focus on customer service and teamwork.
  • Excellent judgment and critical thinking; adept at prioritizing tasks and meeting deadlines.
  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, across various audiences.
  • Proficiency in MS Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).

WORKING CONDITIONS

  • Work is in an office environment
  • Hybrid office position/must be located in the DMV area
  • Some travel required
