The Alliance of Community Health Plans (ACHP) and our member companies are all-in to protect Medicaid consumers and assist in maintaining comprehensive coverage and care through the redetermination process.
In partnership with other trade associations, we coordinated three separate conversations between CMS and health plans on the ground from across the country to discuss local redetermination efforts and opportunities to better assist consumers. These HHS region-based calls provide a unique opportunity for regional health plans to share the strategies and interventions they have deployed to ensure consumers retain access to high-quality coverage during the redetermination process. These conversational forums are vital opportunities to directly share with the Biden Administration what obstacles or successes plans have experienced in their efforts to preserve coverage for their members.
To further support these efforts, ACHP, in partnership with AHIP, released a checklist that Medicaid managed care organizations (MCOs) can use to minimize coverage loss during the redetermination process. With recommendations for increasing renewal literacy, supporting active renewals and more, MCOs can play an active role in supporting consumers during this process. ACHP and its member companies remain committed to protecting Medicaid enrollees’ access to affordable health coverage options.
